Every human being makes decisions about how to get their needs met based on their worldview. In addition to having a worldview, every human being lives inside a worldview—the worldview of the community or nation to which they belong. When your personal worldview is closely aligned with the worldview of your community or nation, you will feel a sense of alignment and inclusion – a sense of belonging. If your worldview does not align with the worldview of your community or nation you may feel a sense of misalignment and exclusion – a sense of separation.

Until recent times worldviews have been slow to evolve. The worldview of Clan Awareness began with the arrival of Homo sapiens around 200,000–300,000 years ago and was the dominant worldview until Tribe Awareness emerged around 12,000 years ago.

Tribe Awareness was the dominant worldview for around 6,500 years until State Awareness emerged about 5,500 years ago. State Awareness was the dominant worldview for around 3,700 years until Nation Awareness emerged about 1,800 years ago.

Nation Awareness was the dominant worldview for around 1,300 years until Wealth Awareness emerged about 500 years ago. The worldview of People Awareness began to emerge about 200 years ago and the worldview of Humanity Awareness began to emerge about 60 years ago. The principal focus of the seven worldviews and the timeline of their emergence are shown in the following table.

Focus of each worldview and approximate timing of its first emergence.

Currently (2020) there are no nations where the worldview of Humanity Awareness is dominant. There are seven nations where the worldview of People Awareness is dominant – Denmark, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, New Zealand and Iceland, eight nations where the worldview of Wealth Awareness is dominant – Luxembourg, Austria, Canada, Netherlands, Ireland, Australia, Germany and United Kingdom, and 18 nations where the worldview of Nation Awareness is dominant. These include Japan, Singapore, France, Spain, United States, Italy and Costa Rica.  Various stages of State Awareness are dominant worldview in all other nations. The main difference between the levels of State Awareness is the influence of the worldview of Tribe Awareness.
